FAQs

Frequently asked questions on studying at the University of St.Gallen

Which languages must I speak proficiently in order to successfully complete a degree course at the University of St.Gallen?
You select 2 foreign languages from those offered. To meet our expectations, your skills in the first foreign language must be at a high level, and at a good standard for the second one.

If you already have a major in Latin and Greek from your school-leaving certificate, then evidence of proficiency in a modern foreign language on level II of the University of St.Gallen is sufficient.

Which language courses can I choose at the University?
Various language courses: courses in English, French and German as a Foreign Language are at the level of the Matura/Abitur, whilst Italian and Spanish are offered at two levels. Beginner’s courses are offered in Russian and Japanese.

Can you study completely in English at the University of St.Gallen?
Yes, but only at the Master's Level.

What effect will my internship have on my later career? What should I particularly pay attention to?
That depends on you. Make use of the University’s provisions for your personal career and life plans: your coach in the first year (provided you take part in the Coaching programme), your mentor from the third semester on, your fellow students and the Career Services Center.

Who will give me support if I choose to take an international internship?
In the first instance, this will be on your own initiative. But the Career Services Center at the University, your mentor and mature fellow students can also help.
