Organization Studies and Cultural Theory (DOK)

The Ph.D. programme in Organization Studies and Cultural Theory is an interdisciplinary and internationally-oriented course. It integrates core and contextual subjects at the HSG into a new type of Ph.D. programme.

Many of today’s current issues are rooted in culture and can only be comprehended with an understanding of socially-embedded ways of life, languages and forms of institutionalisation.

The key to central challenges
The analysis of cultural foundations and premises is the key to effectively confronting the central challenges of life and work contexts, today and in the future.

The Ph.D. programme is built upon a foundation of the systematic application of theories from the humanities and social sciences for the purposes of critique and interpretation of social and organisational challenges, as well as for the development of promising future possibilities.

Stimulate and deepen understanding
The aim of the Ph.D. programme is to unite the core competencies of the HSG, to awaken and deepen understanding for the complex relationships between society, culture, its organisations and institutions.
