About the SEPS-HSG
As the School of Economics and Political Science (SEPS) we unite two important core subjects for the internal and external impact of the HSG.

The School of Economics and Political Science (SEPS) is a cornerstone of the University of St. Gallen. Together with the other Schools, we promote the aims of the HSG and play an active role in shaping its culture. We are distinguished by our internationally recognized research work in our two disciplines of “Economics" and “Political Science”, our high-quality teaching and our economic consulting work, which is recognized in research and practice.
The three main objectives of the SEPS are as follows:
1. Top-level research work.
2. High-quality teaching.
3. A visible profile in economic policy and in international and European politics.
Departments
The SEPS is divided into two departments: the Department of Economics and the Department of Political Science. In addition to research and teaching, both departments are active in their core subjects in the form of economic consulting, provide for the application of knowledge in practice and are involved in further education in certain areas.
Members
SEPS has a total of 14 full professors, 18 assistant professors, and 2 permanent lecturers, who are affiliated to different institutes, faculties, areas of research and centers.
Profile areas
The core areas of the School of Economics and Political Science are organized into three "profile areas”:
- Profile area “Economic Policy”
- Profile area “Quantitative Economic Methods”
- Profile area “Global Democratic Governance”.
These reflect the strengths and weaknesses in the context of research, teaching and economic consulting.
