 May 2012  Honorary Doctor of Economic 2012: The University of St.Gallen honours Professor Richard Baldwin, Ph.D., a top-level researcher in the field of international economics.
 May 2012  The Student Union of the HSG annually honours outstanding teachers with the Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching. This year, the award went to Dr. Reto Schuppli, Lecturer for Mathematics.

 April 2012  We cordially invite all HSG members to join Niklaus Wallimann's Public Defense (PEF) on May 2, 2012 at 18.00, room 22-001. Topic of his talk is "Essays in Health and Disability Insurance". 
 April 2012  The HSG team (Hans Fricke, Simon Knaus, Sascha Kaelin, Mark, Wakeling, Kotryna Drasutyte) has been quite successful at the "Econometric Game 2012". The particpiation was sponsored by the profile area "Quantitative Economic Methods". The team accessed the final stage of the competition, i.e., has been among the best 10 teams (out of 30).  Many universities among the top 10 have collected experience with the econometric games over the years, while for the HSG team this has been the first time. Congratulations on this achievement.

 March 2012  The Walter-Adolf-Jöhr lecture will take place May 11 at 11.15. Professor Paul De Grauwe, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, will talk about 'Managing the Fragility of the Eurozone'
 February 2012  Prof. Christian Keuschnigg will become the director of Vienna's Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) in summer 2012. He retains a part-time professorship in Public Economics at the University of St. Gallen and remains a director of FGN-HSG. The IHS (www.ihs.ac.at) specializes in theoretical and empirical research in economics and other social sciences and is Austria's premier postgraduate research and training institute since its founding in 1963.
 January 2012  The second 'Career Day for Economists' will take place September 28, 2012.
 December 2011  We wish you cheerful christmas holidays and a happy and succesful 2012.
 November 2011  Prof. Dr. Stefan Bühler was re-elected as Vice-President of the Competition Commission (WEKO).
 November 2011  On November 24th 2011, the "Public Sector Fair" as a part of go beyond will take place for the fifth time at HSG. Various representatives from international organisations, public institutions and companies with positions in the field of public affairs will be present again.  September 2011  'Fast track PhD': Starting this semester, selected courses of the PhD in Economics and Finance (PEF) may already be taken at the Master's level (MEcon and MiQE/F) and credited to the core electives. Further information.

 July 2011  Prof. Lars-Hendrik Röller, Ph.D., to whom the HSG awarded an honorary doctorate in Economics in 2011, is head of the Department of Economic and Finance Policy in the German Federal Chancellery. Read more.
 June 2011  On the SSES Annual Meeting 2011 in Lucerne, the young economist award has been granted to Prof. Dr. Carlo Strub and Andrew Clausen (University of Pennsylvania), for the paper "Envelope Theorems for Non-Smooth and Non-Concave Optimization".
 June 2011  The SEPS is seeking to appoint a "Professor of Public Policy / Comparative Political Economy". Application deadline was August 31, 2011.
 May 2011  On June 9 and 10, 2011 the GDG Workshop takes place. Topic of this event is "The Causes, Consequences and Democratic Legitimacy of International Institutions". Please find more information on the GDG webpage.

 May 2011  The "Latsis-Prize 2011" was awarded to Prof. Conny Wunsch, PhD, at the Dies Academicus.
 May 2011  The Student Union of the HSG annually honours outstanding teachers with the Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching. This year, the award went to James Davis, Professor of Political Science.
 May 2011  Honorary Doctor of Economic 2011: The University of St.Gallen honours Professor Lars-Hendrik Röller for his outstanding contributions to Applied Microeconomics and to the Enforcement of EU Competition Law.
 May 2011  Honorary Doctor of Political Science 2011:The University of St.Gallen honours Dr. Surin Pitsuwan for his outstanding contribution to peace, security and development in Southeast Asia and beyond.

 May 2011  Prof. Dr. Michael Lechner won the "Department Research Award 2011" for his outstanding publication success in 2010. Dr. Christian Thöni was awarded for the best publication record among the junior faculty.

 April 2011  Welcome to the "ECPR Joint Sessions", April 12-17, 2011. More information on the ECPR webpage. The focal event of the ECPR Joint Sessions of Workshops 2011 was a lecture by the Nobel Prize laureate Elinor Ostrom.
 March 2011  Prof. Dr. Monika was elected as Dean of the SEPS for two further years. Prof. Daniele Caramani, PhD, was elected as Vice Dean starting fall semester 2011. 
 February 2011  Prof. Christian Keuschnigg (FGN-HSG) was elected as "Associate Editor" of the "European Economic Review".
 February 2011  Prof. Dr. Michael Lechner was elected as chariman of the Research Committee for Population Economics ("Verein für Socialpolitik"). Link.
 February 2011  In spring semester 2011 the "School of Economics and Political Science (SEPS)" started, a union of Economists and Political Scientists at the HSG.
