FAQ International Applicants

Foreign students will find information on the SIM Master's programme on this page.

I am a foreign national. Will I be allowed to work in Switzerland?
Swiss employers must first give preference to Swiss and EU/EFTA nationals. Only if employers can prove that no suitable candidate can be found may citizens of non-EU/EFTA countries be considered for any given position. It is possible for all students to apply for part-time work in one of the universities institutes. If you were to be offered a position, your employer would assist you in organising the necessary work permit.

I am moving to St. Gallen to begin my SIM Master. Can you help me find accommodation?
The University of St. Gallen's student union coordinates an online housing market. We recommend that you use this forum to get in touch with fellow students and local residents who are looking for someone rent their room or apartment. Universities in Switzerland do not generally offer on-campus accommodation.

I received a scholarship and need to provide proof of acceptance to the SIM programme. Is an early decision possible?
Early decision is generally not possible. Applicants may request an update of their application status from the Admissions Ofice.

I still have not received a letter of acceptance and I need to apply for my student visa. What can I do?
Applicants who were admitted to the program may request the Admissions Office to provide a copy of their acceptance letter electronically.
