FAQ - Applying to SIM

On this page you get answers on how to apply to the SIM programme, what language test you have to pass and so on.

How do I apply to the SIM programme?
Our Admission section provides a list of necessary application documents as well as information about the application procedure. Applications are only possible once a year during the corresponding application window (see next Q&A). During this period you need to complete and submit an online application form and send original copies of the requested documents to:

Office of Students' Affairs
University of St.Gallen
Dufourstrasse 50
CH-9000 St. Gallen
Switzerland

When can I start the SIM programme?
You can start the SIM programme only in the fall semester. Subsequent compulsory SIM courses build upon the knowledge imparted during the first semester. In addition, the program directorship views it as important that students are able to get to know the rest of their SIM class. Key introductory sessions are held during the first few weeks of the first term.

Do you accept GRE scores instead of the GMAT?
No, the General Management Admission Test (GMAT) is compulsory for all internal and external applicants. The GRE cannot be accepted in lieu of the GMAT as it measures different aptitudes.

What other language examinations are accepted besides the TOEFL test?
Please go to our section on Admissions for further details.

How long does it take for the official GMAT and TOEFL scores to reach the University of St.Gallen?
After the test has been taken, it generally takes 3-6 weeks until we receive the official copies of your scores. It is in the student's own responsibility to ensure that these scores reach the University of St.Gallen by the application deadline. If this is not the case, your application will not be considered.

Do I need to have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration to apply?
Ideally your Bachelor's degree includes equivalents of the prerequisite courses listed on the Admissions page. If you are only missing a few of these courses, it is possible to sit supplementary courses on the Bachelor's Level parallel to your SIM studies. If you are uncertain whether you can apply for the SIM Program with your current Bachelor's degree, please contact the University's Admissions and Crediting Office: admissions@unisg.ch for a personal assessment of your eligibility.
