Nov. 2011  On November 24th 2011, the "Public Sector Fair" as a part of go beyond will take place for the fifth time at HSG. Various representatives from international organisations, public institutions and companies with positions in the field of public affairs will be present again. Nov. 2011  Best degree MiQEF academic year 2010/11: Mr. Christian Stucki, winner of the MiQEF award sponsored by LGT (CHF 5000) with an average grade of 5.85. 
Nov. 2011  Award of the Economic Departments for the best Master thesis in the academic year 2010/11 (1000,- CHF): Ms. Maria Schwarz, MiQEF. Title of the thesis: Exchange rate dynamics and the spillovers from the U.S. stock market - a tree-structured approach 
April 2011 Successful 1st Career Day for Economists: Over 150 students and alumni attended the 1st Career Day for Economists. Keynote speeches and career reports of alumni opened the event - speed dates between alumni and students enabled them to broaden their network. The event was a great success - according to the feedbacks of the participants. Therefore we will hold another Career Day for Economists in 2012. Feb. 2011 School of Economics and Political Science (SEPS): Starting Feb. 01, 2011, economists and political scientists are united in the new School of Economics and Political Science. Within the SEPS, there are two departments, the department of economics and the department of political sciences. The SEPS runs 2 bachelor programmes (VWL and BIA), 3 master programmes (MIA, Mecon, MiQEF) and 2 doctoral programmes (PEF and DIA).

Adrian Peller receives prize for the best Master's Degree in Quantitative Economics and Finance (MiQE/F) 2010: Each year, a prize of 5'000 CHF is awarded to the graduate with the best degree.The award offered by LGT Capital Management was handed over to the graduate at a little decentralised celebration on Saturday, 9th of October.
We would like to congratulate Mr Adrian Peller to this great success and wish him best of luck for his further studies.

Oct 2010 5 MiQE/F graduates receive their Master's Degree: On Saturday, Oct. 9th, 2010, the graduates received their diplomas. We congratulate the graduates and wish them all the best for their academic or professional career.

Prof. Monika Bütler was appointed to the National Bank Council. The General Meeting of Shareholders of the Swiss National Bank appointed Prof. Monika Bütler (SEW-HSG) as member of the Bank Council for the remaining of the 2008–2012 term of office.

The 2010 Latsis Prize was awarded to Dr. Christian Thöni for his research work and scientific publications. The Board of the Fondation Latsis Internationale acknowledges with this price his research work. This deals with the empirical justification of social preferences in social dilemma situations as well as in the actual market.

March 2010 HSG in the top group of the Handelsblatt rankings: The Handelsblatt has examined and evaluated the economic research at universities in the German-speaking area. The University of St.Gallen (HSG) occupies 8th position amongst all of the universities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Feb 2010

The Starr International Foundation Grant Fund is aimed at highly talented foreign-language students with a recognized foreign Bachelor’s degree who want to join us to obtain a Master’s degree in one of the English-language programs. As a rule, for the MiQE/F one grant of CHF 20,000 each is awarded every year. Outstanding students are identified by the Advice Center for Study Funding on the basis of various criteria, and are asked to submit additional documents. The program directors then decide about the award of the grants on the basis of program requirements.
