Core electives

The Master's programme offers attractive core electives such as specific courses, tutorials, and practical projects.

Our core electives allow students to choose and refine their areas of specialisation, developing a professional portfolio of their own. By choosing your specific courses and practical projects adequately, the following informal specialisations are possible:

  • Security Politics
  • International Economics
  • Development and Democratisation
  • Public Management
  • Environment, Climate & Ressources

Specific courses
You select specific courses minimum worth 16 ECTS. While some specific courses are multidisciplinary in nature and examine complex problems from several disciplinary angles, others address questions and challenges characteristic of one particular subject area. One or more of the MIA's core disciplines is always involved.

You also select one or two practical projects. Here, concrete socio-political issues are used to develop your ability to take a solution-oriented approach to practical problems, at the same time promoting the necessary social skills for effective action.
