Curriculum

The DOK studies will provide you with options for careers in both industry and academics. You can define your own specializations within the curriculum.

Foyer of the university's library.

Careers in industry
This programme offers broad, interdisciplinary training in general management. It particularly increases the career opportunities of such graduates who will later work in environments with sophisticated demands on their cultural understanding. This includes professional environments in other geographic cultural settings (global management) as well as in non-profit organisations, public organizations, social ventures, NGOs, health organizations, etc.

Careers in academics
This programme offers a systematic analysis of fundamental humanities and social science theories with particular emphasis on their potential for problem analysis in management theory. It also emphasizes thorough training in qualitative, context-sensitive and hands-on research methods. It is of central importance to understand research itself as a cultural practice in which epistemological, conceptual and methodological issues are to be seen as one inseparable unit.

The programme
The studies are divided into a coursework stage and a thesis stage. The aim of the coursework stage is the acquisition of specific knowledge in line with your thesis project. This involves attending DOK courses. In the doctoral thesis stage, you will write your thesis and, together with your supervisor, engage specific issues for independent study.
