Your nationality determines whether or not you need to apply for an entry visa. Information about countries for which visas are required and entry formalities can be found under Arrival procedures, in the Student Guide Guest Students and in a letter included with your acceptance letter.
Do I need to have valid health insurance?
Yes. We recommend all guest students to have sufficient health insurance coverage during their stay in Switzerland. Is the the length of stay more than 90 days, guest students (regardless of nationality) must provide valid proof of health insurance. More information can be found under Arrival procedures, in the Student Guide Guest Students and in the Registration Information, which was sent to you by way of the coordinator at your home school after electronic nomination.
Does an “L” residence permit allow me to work in Switzerland?
No. Work unrelated to your studies must be approved by canton officials. The employer must apply for a work permit for students of EU/EFTA nationalities. Due to current regulations, students without EU/EFTA nationality are highly unlikely to receive a work permit.
