The Faculty of Spanish Language and Literature offers courses at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, and in the Ph.D. Programmes «Organization Studies and Cultural Theory» and «International Business».

Learning objectives
Our objective is to increase the students’ intercultural awareness on topics of social and cultural relevance, as well as to enrich their knowledge of Brazil, Spanish-speaking Latin America, and the Iberian Peninsula.
Interdisciplinary teaching
In the same way as set out by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences research group CIM (Cultures – Institutions – Markets), the teaching objective is to link cultural and literary sciences with the disciplines of economics, law and political science. For this reason, we periodically co-teach seminars with colleagues from the various core subjects (for example, “Management as literary topic” or “The failure of law in literature.”)
Perspectives
In order to strengthen the Luso-Brazilian studies curriculum, we offer a Portuguese course in addition to the Spanish courses.
The key focus of the new MD and Ph.D. Programmes is to address transcultural, cultural theoretical and aesthetic problems, with an eye towards Latin America and Spain.
Content
The curriculum focuses on situations of cultural contact (e.g. the situation of Latinos in America), artistic forms of expression (music, film, visual arts, literature, theatre, performance) and the interplay of fictional and empirical dimensions.
