The excellence of an academic institution is revealed by the quality of scientific research and publication outlets. Seeking the highest quality in research, we measure ourselves against international standards.

Individual members of the Department of Political Science run numerous research projects and successfully secure funding from national and international funding institutions such as the Swiss National Science Foundation, the National Centre for Competence in Research, the Framework Programme of the EU, and the German Research Community.

Research involves wide ranging academic collaboration in Switzerland, Europe and North America, as well as research collaboration with international organisations, the European Union and national state agencies in Switzerland, Germany and the US.

Research Papers of the Department of Political Science
This new series of working papers includes research contributions by members of our department and affiliated external members.

Political Data Yearbook
Since 2010 the Political Data Yearbook (an annual special issue of the European Journal of Political Research) is co-edited in St.Gallen in collaboration with the University of Sussex.

Swiss Political Science Review
Between 2006 and 2010 the Swiss Political Science Review has been published in St.Gallen. It has published international contribution in English, German and French on topics such as consociational democracy, direct democracy, federalism, in comparative perspective. It has published the Swiss Elections Study (special issue) as well as one annual special issue.
