Unemployment

The unit “Unemployment” explores different aspects of unemployment insurance systems and the management of the employment offices. It analyses the effects and optimal use of active labour market policies.

Unemployment (U)
It explores different aspects of unemployment insurance systems, the management of the employment offices, and analyses the effects and optimal use of active labour market policies.

Investigations
Almost all subprojects will devote considerable attention to the particular situation of elderly workers as for them it is typically difficult to find a new job after a spell of unemployment.

Analysis and results
There are direct links to the research unit AH (Ageing and Health), in particular to the projects that address disability insurance as another pillar of the social security system. Social insurance schemes may lead to economic incentives affecting individuals' labour market participation. A weaker link exists to the project OE (Organisational Energy) with respect to the success of training in or outside an active labour market programme, and, of course, to the research unit SY (Sinergia Proposal).
