The Economics of Ageing and Health
The research unit “Ageing and Health” analyzes the role of health for labour market outcomes.

The Economics of Ageing and Health (AH)
It analyzes the role of health for labour market outcomes, in particular the final exit from the labour market and the effect that lifetime health investments might have on the final stage of a working life.
Investigations
A particular emphasis is given to the role of disability insurance as an alternative to early retirement, which is obviously related to financial sustainability of the social security systems for the elderly. The unit also explores the impact of health on labour market outcomes in general, as well as intergenerational inequality for those who are currently active in the labour market.
Analysis and results
AH is related to U (unemployment) that focuses on healthy worker who will eventually return to the labour market after spells of unemployment. Unit HE (home economics) complements the research of this unit, as it considers unpaid work, which often acts as a substitute to paid work. By also more subjective measures of individual well-being, research unit AH is also related to unit EW (economic and political determinants of welfare).
