Economic and Political Determinants of Welfare
The research unit “Economic and Political Determinants of Welfare” develops a comprehensive notion of welfare by scrutinising the connection between welfare, work, and family policies.

Economic and Political Determinants of Welfare (EW)
The research unit Economic and Political Determinants of Welfare (EW) is guided by the questions of
- how to assess welfare?
- how to put individual and general welfare in relation?
- how to set up welfare institutions in the light of these findings?
Investigations
The unit considers different aspects of work, a critical area in which individual behaviour and political intervention often interact. The comparative approach to different welfare policies that are conducted based on a conceptual analysis complements the research on the economic and political determinants of welfare (EW). Finally, the conceptual considerations of this research unit aim at creating a map that helps to specify the interrelations between all the other SCALA projects to promote and structure exchange and discussion among all participants.
